Armchair Book Expo is the experience for book bloggers to participate in Book Expo from the comfort of their homes. This experience is created lovingly by book bloggers specifically for our peers who for whatever reason are not able to participate in the main conference in New York each year. We bring publishers, authors, and bloggers together in celebrating our love for all things literary by hosting celebrations such as sneak peeks, daily discussion topics, and sponsored giveaways. 



What is Armchair Book Expo?
Book bloggers unable to attend Book Expo and/or BookCon in New York, but would like to ‘meet’ other book bloggers and publishers to discuss books and book blogging can participate in this virtual event. Armchair Book Expo has been run by book bloggers on a volunteer basis since 2010, although giveaways are sponsored by authors and publishers.

When is Armchair Book Expo? 
Armchair Book Expo runs simultaneously with Book Expo and BookCon. Armchair Book Expo 2017 is scheduled for May 31-June 4.

Where do I sign up? 
Registration for participants is now open! You must be a registered participant in order to be eligible for our sponsored giveaways.

Sign ups for sponsoring giveaways (authors, publicists, and publishers) is also now open. Click here for more information on becoming a sponsor. (Blogger sponsored giveaways are available during the week of Armchair Book Expo. See below for more information.)

Who can participate? 
Armchair Book Expo is for book lovers of all genres who cannot attend the Book Expo events in New York. Whether you consider yourself a hobbyist or amateur reviewer or on your way to a professional career, Armchair Book Expo is for you if you talk about books on any platform.

Authors, publicists, and publishers can get involved by sponsoring giveaways. This is great publicity as it gets books into the hands of those who read, review, and share about them. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, you can find more information here.

How do I participate? 
You can participate as much or as little as you wish.  Be sure to check out our Agenda & Schedule for the most up-to-date schedule and links.

On your blog. Each day here on the main page of Armchair Book Expo, a daily topic post (example- Introduce Yourself, May 28, 2013) will be put up for the day. Write about the topic on your platform, then post a link to your post on the daily topic post on the Armchair Book Expo website. In 2013, we introduced a second daily topic that focused solely on genres (example- Classics, May 28, 2013). You do not have to write a post everyday or participate in both daily topics if you don’t wish.

Host a giveaway. We will choose a date for blogger hosted giveaways. You can host a giveaway on your blog/platform that day and link to it on the Armchair Book Expo blog giveaway linky on the main site. International giveaways are encouraged when possible.  The 2017 blogger giveaway day will be announced soon.

Join a Twitter party. Are you a book lover on Twitter? A minimum of three Twitter parties (parties will be at different times to accommodate bloggers around the world) will be hosted during the event. Follow the Twitter party by using Tweetchat or Tweetdeck with the hashtag #ArmchairBookExpo. Participants will chat with the hosts and other book bloggers during the hour long party and answer fun questions. Prizes will be given to randomly chosen participants.  You can find the Twitter party schedule here.

Join the Instagram Challenge.  Each day of the event we will have a prompt to share in pictures over at Instagram.  Follow the pics via the hashtag #ArmchairBookExpo.

Comment! Comment! Comment! A great way to connect with other bloggers is through commenting on each others’ platforms. Drop by a new-to-you book lover listed on the participant page or through the daily topic post linky and say hello.

Volunteer. Without volunteers Armchair Book Expo can’t happen. This event gets bigger every year and requires more and more people to keep things running smoothly.

Are there giveaways? How do I win? What do I do once I win? 
Yes, there are giveaways. Book lover sponsored giveaways will be hosted by individual bloggers on their own platforms and run according to their own rules. Prizes will be distributed by those bloggers. A link up post will be set up on Armchair Book Expo on the chosen day.

Author/publicist/publisher sponsored giveaways are hosted here on Armchair Book Expo, prizes are listed on the Giveaways page. Each day participants will be randomly chosen by the Armchair Book Expo Team. These sponsored giveaways are also included in Twitter parties and the Instagram Challenge. Winners will be announced on the website daily and given a link to a form which they will fill out with their contact information and their top 3 choices from the prize list (prizes already spoken for will be crossed out). Prize winners’ information will be given to the author/publicist/publisher who is responsible for the distribution of prizes. Armchair Book Expo Team members are not responsible for the distribution of prizes. We will do what we can to alert the sponsors of any problems, but ultimately it is up to the sponsors to make sure prizes get to winners.
