TUESDAY, MAY 27, 2014: AUTHOR INTERACTION & MORE THAN JUST WORDS

Author Interaction
Let’s talk interacting with authors IRL (in real life) or online. This is your opportunity to talk about your favorite author readings that you have attended. Or, you can feature your favorite author fan moment (i.e., an author sent you a tweet or commented on your blog). Maybe you even want to share how your interactions have changed since becoming a blogger or share your own tips that you have learned along the way when interacting with authors as a blogger.

More Than Just Words
There are so many mediums that feature more than just words and enhance a story in a multitude of ways. Examples may include graphic novels and comics, audiobooks, or even multimedia novels. On this day, we will be talking about those books and formats that move beyond just the words and use other ways to experience a story. Which books stand out to you in these different formats?

HOW TO LINK UP

Please use the following format when linking up:

Name @ Blog Name - Daily Topic Represented

For example: Sally @ Armchair BEA - Author OR Sally @ Armchair BEA - Author & More Than Words

Please use only permalinks (links going directly to the designated post) when linking up. If you link directly to your home page, your link will be removed.

  7. Great post topic today. Am so curious about what other "more than just words" types of stories bloggers are interested in.

  8. I became very sad yesterday because in one of the participant's introductions she was trying to make bloggers think the need permission to use images of published book covers, and summaries and synopsis put out by the publisher. Almost entirely not true. The authors and publishers want you to be able to easily blog about their books, it is free PR!! It is so easy to use a book jacket summary, or Goodreads synopsis and just attribute it to the source, no permission needed. They want the covers of the books to be seen by as many people possible. Bloggers are pretty much covered by this... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use , it is worth the read. Keep blogging, no worries.

    1. La La in the LiBrArY ... You can definitely use images of book covers in your blog posts. In fact, Tasha of Truth Beauty Freedom and Books did a great article breaking this down over at Book Bloggers International a while back. Here's the direct link: http://bookbloggersintl.blogspot.com/2013/06/ethical-and-legal-image-use.html Please feel free to share this with the participant. It might help too!

    2. La La in the LiBrArY,
That IS sad. It takes one bad cookie to throw out wrong information, and sadly, one person WILL go away thinking they can't do something. You did a GREAT JOB in looking that info up so people can see she is wrong!
Also, HUGE thanks to Tif Sweeney!!! Thanks for the link!
Yes, authors DO want their books to be seen! That is the whole point of putting their books out there in the first place! If you don't see a book, no one will see it! It's common sense! Same thing goes for the description!
Over at NetGalley they encourage people to PIN the book covers on our Pinterest page! When I write a review on a book I got from NetGalley, I DO include the book cover, and I use 'their' book description. You did the BEST thing by researching it and finding what she said is not true! Heckm if we couldn't do that, there would not be book blogs!
I'm headed over to read the link that Tif Sweeney gave us! It sounds interesting! Thanks, Tif!!
