BBC Related Post Topics & Suggestions

Is everyone getting excited for Arm Chair BEA? I know all of the organizers here at Arm Chair BEA are looking forward to it! So, before the weekend gets here, we thought we'd give you one more thing to get started on to prep your posts for next week, Book Blogger Convention Topics.

Here are the Main Topics from the
BBC Convention:
  • Marketing - How to increase your blog stats, Branding, Getting your name out there
  • Writing and Building Content - Tips and tricks on writing good book reviews, Tone-humor sarcasm, I'm out of ideas what do I do now?/How do I keep it fresh?, Planning a good feature/series, What content is most popular? How do I innovate/differentiate?, How do I balance reviews with other content?
  • Impact of the Relationship Between Author and Blogger - Creating/Fostering a relationship, Pitfalls of relationships between blogger/author
  • Blogging With Social Responsibility
Some other resources to use would be the following:
I should also mention that there is an entire session with Ron Hogan from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt discussing Professionalism and Ethics in Blogging with a focus on these topics:
  • How to communicate with publishing companies, publicists, etc.
  • Professionalism and ethics in blogging
Now, for what we need you to do for this day specifically. Below there is a Mr. Linky, we'd like all the participants planning on posting for this day to link up now with their blog name and what topic out of the above choices you would like to focus your own post on. By doing this it gives us, the organizers, an opportunity to make sure that each of the topics are covered.

Please know that if you change your mind and decide you just can't come up with something for the one selected you can change your mind, it's not a problem. We're just trying to get a feeling for what everyone is going to be discussing.

Also, if you happen to have more resources to suggest, please feel free to leave them in the comments and we'll get them added as they come in. We want everyone to have all the information out there to help them in their post write up.

Thanks so much! We really can't wait to see what everyone is interested in!

I saw the previous post about various topics, and I wanted to write about the topic Your Favorite Signed Book. Is it still possible to write about that, or do I need to use one of the topics from the BBC suggestions listed here?

Actually, I was just thinking about it a little more, and I think that I could write something about the pitfalls of blogger-author relationships. Not, of course, that I have any bad experiences in this regard, but I can transfer experience I have from my day job to this topic. :)

I'll write on this and the Favorite Signed Book topic.

I know I said on the form that I was just going to be a spectator but I had an idea for a post that would be helpful to our newer bloggers. I think we have all been asked from time to time how we get all of our ARCs/ Galleys and what they are. I would be willing to do a post on that topic if you think it is relevent to BEA. I was thinking of all the ARC's that are going to be available at the real BEA.

I apologize for two entries, I gave the wrong URL for my site. D'oh!

Yeah, trying to think clearly at midnight o'thirty in the morning is not recommended. [sheepish grin]

Oh, and I also am thinking about doing a post/article on authenticity in blogging. In fact, since I already came up with a snazzy title, I'm gonna run with it.

Ooops, my link came up with just my name. Anyhow, I will do a post about "writing and building content." My post will be from the point of view of a tween student.

Ignore link #26, please - Mr. Linky had stored the info from the LAST time I used him! My topic is link #27. Sorry about that!

Thanks to all for organizing this! Posts will vary--and include notes from the SCBWI conferences I've attended this year.

See you at #ArmchairBEA! (and we don't have to worry about what to wear! : )

Hi ladies, thanks for organising Armchair BEA!!

My BEA post will be "To post or not to post? That is the question" which will combine 2 topics: Blogger/author relationship and Bléogging with Social Responsibility.

I'll write about the controversial topic of negative reviews and what should a blogger do if an author asks them not to post a negative review.
